TIFF 2018 Off-sale Screenings

Here is a posting for current off-sale films for TIFF 2018. Note that films that appear off-sale here may come back on-sale as tickets are released or if the festival releases additional inventory.

Please post additional off-sale (or films that come back on-sale) in the comments. Thanks!

Hi Monique,

I also only received an email confirmation for the tickets I actually purchased, but when I logged into my account, I have twice as many as I purchased.

Did you get the 11:59 Halloween? If so, we’ll see you there!

Brad, maybe they’ll reverse the pending charges?

I have an extra for THE PREDATOR (Premiere). Willing to trade for a HALLOWEEN @ 11:30PM or an OUTLAW KINGDOM at 8:00PM (Opening)

I have (2) Predator tickets for the next day...if you are interested, let me know...$30 for the pair. dvdbob@hotmail.com.

Is it looking like Halloween will be off sale by tomorrow ? I’ll be trying for tickets at 10am (god help me).

at 12:15pm got tix for Sep 9 High Life premiere at RTH
at 12:45pm got Sept 15 got Outlaw King (not a premiere)
at 1:30pm after trying for hours on end finally got 2 tix for Sep 10 First Man premiere at RTH

Test, I only have 1 extra.

What seats did you snag for the First Man RTH Screening?

Yes happened to me. Box office just went in and refunded the second set. Also couldn’t pick print at home but box office sent me the PDF.
I got gala tickets for beautiful boy.

I have a pair of tickets to the HOTEL MUMBAI premiere screening on September 7th - Dress Circle tickets - looking to trade - would love a DESTROYER on September 10th or an OUTLAW KINGDOM on the 6th - need single tickets.

Actually Test they refunded it and the other extras.

Monique and Lizzie3180,

How did you go about getting TIFF to refund you for your extras? I was told (via phone and Twitter) to email customer relations but have not heard back from them. What did you do to get them to respond?

I called them and explained that I only wanted 1 of each. I saw someone on twitter say that’s what they did.

After being unable to buy anything during my Contributor window yesterday due to the website’s insane problems, I went to the box office before dinner last night to confirm if any of my interactions actually went through (I kept getting hung up on the credit card window). One actually did go through so check your credit card statement if you tried multiple times.

I got there at 5:30 - there was no line - and they rather snottily told me that they extended the Contributer for one hour because “they had an hour of technical difficulties” (ha!) but my window was now closed.

After talking to a supervisor, they said that they were considering opening up windows again the next day Sun (Sept 2) because of all the technical issues on Sat and I should check my email. I still haven’t gotten anything yet but I’m going to try logging in at 10am just in case.

Update: someone just Tweeted at TIFF and they responded that there is now a "Insider Pre-Sale" available! Get your promo code here: https://tiff.apps.umbel.com/8a0/tiff-weekly-insiders-pre-sale/# (It's WKLYTIFF) and then go to here: https://www.ticketmaster.ca/promo/pph1qk?brand=tiff

When I go to that last link, I see a list of films still available but no place to enter my promo code or actually buy them.

You have to go under the "Discover" tab and search through that - sadly there aren't many titles left - most went as soon as I refreshed them.

That worked -- thank you! I can't believe that I'm at Contributor level and am now competing with people who got an early window because they signed up to a newsletter, but at least I got the one extra ticket I was looking for...

No Halloween though eh?

Any chance you know anybody with an extra halloween ticket?

Slightly off topic: how strictly are they about no food/drink situation in the theater? If I recall, some theaters are more strict about this than others. I remember getting bags checked in Elgin/Winter Garden and I think, Ryerson, and nothing other than water was allowed. And I remember people grumbling about RTH not even allowing bottled water? Not sure about PoW. Whereas Scotiabanks and TBLB are a lot more lenient, which makes sense as these are proper movie theaters for the rest of the year with decent concession stands (I had no issues bringing in coffee and snacks into those two).

Some of my screenings are quite close together and on a couple of days, the only way I would be able to squeeze in lunch is if I bought a sandwich before the 10 AM showing and eat en route or while standing in line for the next screening at 1 or 1:30. Or it will have to be granola bars (provided that bag check people don't throw away my granola bars, that is.)

EJ,

In my experience water hasn't been a problem in any theater, although in seven years of attending I've never had a screening in Roy Thomson Hall.

I recall bag checks at Ryerson but don't recall if they started doing them at Elgin/Winter Garden and/or Princess of Wales. Ryerson insists on water-only, and while you might get some food in, I've seen them approach people about it while a film is playing. (I think Jackman Hall is the same way.)

Lightbox and Scotiabank don't seem to have any restrictions...within reason, of course.

All screenings of Galveston have been cancelled. All screenings have been replaced by screenings of A Private War. I don't know what happens to those who had tickets to Galveston, if your tickets for Galveston will still be valid.

From TIFF:

All screenings of Galveston have been cancelled. TIFF has announced that A Private War will replace Galveston in the Gala Presentations selection.

Pre-purchased tickets for the cancelled screenings of Galveston will be valid for the added screenings of A Private War at the originally scheduled times. If you do not wish to attend one of these screenings, the original ticket must be exchanged for a voucher or a ticket to a different screening of equal or lesser value. Ticket holders wishing to exchange their ticket in advance may do so online or at the Festival Box Office. Questions or concerns should be directed to the Festival Box Office or customerrelations@tiff.net.

Thanks, Mark. I'll probably take my water bottle and hide a granola bar and some beef jerky in a small pocket in my purse for nibbles. :) Sandwiches seem risky.

Now that the ticket situation has been more or less squared away (barring a couple of exchanges I am hoping to make tomorrow), I'm down to thinking of ways to do the festival so that I actually enjoy it instead of exhausting myself out. Which means trying to eat proper meals and staying hydrated. I have a couple of 4 film days -- those are gonna be rough, especially when it comes to finding time to eat. This is my third year and every year, I tell myself that I'm not gonna do more than 3 films a day, and every year, I end up breaking my own promise (but there are so many movies to seeeeee, wahhhh.)

On a different topic... anyone seeing The Death and Life of John Donovan on September 11 at
Scotiabank? If so, willing to save me a seat (just 1)? I’m in desperate need of a lineup buddy as I’ll be running from Sunset at Lightbox that ends a half hour before Death and Life (assuming it starts on time). Pretty please?

For what it's worth regarding GALVESTON - below is the statement made by festival - as a member of the press, I'm set to interview Elle in NYC the day of the premiere, so I felt something was off - appears that scheduling has changed for all involved.

“We have recently learned director and cast for Galveston are no longer available to attend the Canadian Premiere in Toronto due to work commitments,” the fest said this morning in a statement. “Our Gala Presentations require filmmaker and key cast to be present at the premiere screening at Roy Thomson Hall, and unfortunately we cannot move forward with Galveston in this selection. At this time, all our other programming slots are in place so we have regretfully withdrawn the film. We wish Mélanie Laurent and the film’s production team the very best, and hope Toronto audiences will have the opportunity to see Galveston in the near future.”

Can anyone access tickets, yet?

I've been trying since 7 and no tickets are showing.

How can I exchange tickets online?

Anyone else get complimentary vouchers for buying packs early? They were finally added to my account today. It appears they are "back half" vouchers that can only be used during end of the festival. I don't remember them saying that when I bought the pack, what a scam again. Anyway does anyone know how to use these vouchers online? It doesn't seem to work.

I knew when I purchased my packages that I had 6 complimentary back-half vouchers, which I reserved for 2 each of First Man, Roma, and Widows, thinking that these films are playing multiple times in large venues. Alas, they are all off-sale! Can't get anything now. I'd rather not have any of these vouchers had I known that this would happened, and would have used my regular tickets for the three aforementioned films!

Have just successfully exchanged 3 tickets - a much smoother process than the individual pre-sale day. I ended up snagging a ticket for a screening that was off-sale that day, so overall I'm content. There were several screenings on the exchange list reported to be off-sale so I hope some of you ended up getting the tickets you'd wanted and couldn't get before.

I *thought* I had four vouchers for early Flex Package purchase but it's not on my View All "Tickets" page. Is that where the vouchers are supposed to be? I mean, it's not like I need them since I'm absolutely full up on the schedule -- in fact, I overextended myself and will probably end up missing a few screenings for the sake of my sanity and stamina.

By the way, does anyone know how to print all tickets at the same time? The layout has changed since previous year and I'm not sure how to get to that grid with all the movies with a print-all option. I could print one ticket at a time but doing it for 30 films is gonna get tiresome real quick.

I tried to exchange my back-half vouchers that I got as part of the early bird ticket package sale. I couldn't do it online, so I called the box office. I waited over an hour on hold, but I was able to exchange my vouchers for tickets over the phone.

Does anyone know the bag requirements? Is there a size limit or no ? Last time I went was a few years ago and there wasn’t but now my purse is a bit bigger. Should I bring a smaller one?

Anyone know how the "bonus vouchers" work? In the email when I first ordered my package it says: "Bonus Back-Half vouchers will be added to accounts by the evening of September 4, 2018.
Vouchers can be redeemed starting September 5, 2018 and are redeemable for regular screenings between September 12 and 16, 2018. Buzz List and Closing Night packages are not eligible for this offer."

But when I try to purchase a regular ticket between Sept 12-16, it appears that I'm being charged the normal rate. How do I access my voucher?

> How can I exchange tickets online?

I hope you got around to it by now, but if you haven't, this is the process:

- Sign on to your Account Manager
- On the home page, click on "View All" link on your Upcoming Events, which is where your current tickets are located
- Select the screening you want to exchange. If you have more than one ticket for an event, you will have a list of options with individual seat numbers you can choose from
- On the upper right side of the page, you will see blue buttons with "Print" "Send" and "Exchange" (on my non-widescreen monitor, Exchange button appears as "..." but if you click on it, you'll get to "Exchange")
- Once you click on the exchange button, it'll get you to a "Manage My Tickets" page with the ticket you just selected. Check the box on the left corner of the ticket you want to exchange, then hit the black button on the right upper corner that says "Exchange (1)"
- Click on the "Continue to exchange" on the pop-up box
- Now you get to the list of eligible events with which you can exchange this ticket. Browse and choose the one you want. If your new event is in a theater with assigned seats, you'll see a seating chart with available seats you can choose from.
- Complete the exchange. Depending on how you purchased the initial ticket, you might need to pay an additional surcharge.

Monique, there isn't a bag limit. I went to a screening last year before going to the gym and I had my big gym bag with me and there were no issues.

I just walked by the new member's box office that they've set up in the PATH and it was really busy (maybe 30 people in line at 9am) so if you have exchanges to do, it's best to do them online if possible.

I'm also wondering about the bonus voucher. I ordered my flex pack early and should be eligible, but there's nothing indicating a free screening credit in my account.

@EJ Did you ever figure out how to print (or make a PDF of) all tickets at once? I think I know how you're supposed to do it, but I cannot get it to work. I think what you're supposed to do is "pretend" to exchange a ticket, thereby getting to the "Manage My Tickets" pane at oss.ticketmaster.com. Then click on "manage more tickets" which brings you to a Calendar pane. From there click on "Advanced Options" and then, under "Choose an Action", select "Print tickets". But it doesn't work! Eventually it just brings me in a loop back to the am.ticketmaster.com page. I am using Firefox, maybe I should try a different browser? Surely someone has figured this out, or are you all just printing tickets for one film at a time?

@matthew, I did exactly what you did and went as far as you got, but once I hit that black "print" button, it neither printed nor popped open a box to let me save the whole thing as one long PDF file -- the latter was what I remember happening last year when I tried it. I ended up "printing," i.e. saving each individual ticket as PDF, then printing out physical tickets one at a time, which was a huge pain in the ass as you might imagine. At least now it's done. I'd also be curious to see if anyone was able to print the whole thing as one job!

Update: if you purchased your package early (in May) you should have bonus vouchers in your account for free screenings in the back half of the festival. The bonus vouchers were supposed to show up in your account online automatically as of last night (Sept 4) but for many people they didn't. I ended up going to the members box office area they've set up in the MetroCentre and they were able to redeem them for me. The line was about 2 hours long, and a LOT of screenings are sold out -- even 2nd and 3rd screenings.

About those back-half vouchers for the early renewal promotion: TIFF ought to have sent an email yesterday at the same time they dropped the vouchers into our accounts. There's a very specific process you have to follow online in order to redeem them (I figured it out, but it was not at all intuitive). Also, it's easy to understand if anyone overlooked those vouchers in their account; you can see them if you click "VIEW ALL" and then search on the term VOUCHER.

@mathew5000 - Thanks for the tip! Aw man, I wish I had known how to search for vouchers. There were some screenings left when I first looked at my account this morning, but by the time I got to the front of the line at the box office, the ones I wanted were gone. I can't believe TIFF didn't send out instructions or even a reminder to those of us who got bonus vouchers. I've been doing this festival for 11 years, and this year has been my worst experience BY FAR. Every step there's been some sort of issue.

I've been trying to exchange all day through the website and it just says that "no action is available for these tickets" or something, and I can't check the boxes to exchange them. Anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong? Or is there just some glitch with my account?

Thanks if you can help me!

I have a Halloween on Saturday night @11:30 for the Elgin theater. looking to trade for any First Man showing before Sep 11th

Contact nmosley91@gmail.com

Really needing a line buddy for the midnight screening of Standoff at Sparrow Creek. I will be seeing Jessica Forever right before Standoff, and I was really wanting a good seat for that midnight show. If anyone is willing, just let me know. Would be glad to return the favor at another screening if possible.

Is anyone else having this problem where you see an off-sale screening suddenly have 1-2 ticket availability for purchase (due to someone exchanging his/her ticket(s) for another screening), but the same screening is not showing up in the list of films for exchange? The exchange list seems to only display screenings with an abundance of available seats, and is not quick enough to refresh and capture these one-off availability of off-sale screenings. Just list ALL the films regardless of availability, TIFF! It is frustrating to have films that I want to exchange into but unable to because of this dense process.

Selling one ticket to the Beautiful Boy gala at the Elgin Theatre on Sept. 7th at 8pm. Seating is in Orchestra, row O. $50. Reply to this message if interested.

Sarah I'll take it! Please email me at sdbentworth at Gmail . Com and I will send proceeds immediately

I'm seeking a ticket for Transit on Sept 14th. I can buy or offer to trade my ticket for The Wild Pear Tree on the same day

If you have a Halloween one I’ll buy it
