2008 Opening Night Gala

The festival announced Tuesday that Paul Gross' film Passchendaele, about the World War I battle in which Canadians participated, will be the opening night gala for the 2008 festival. Gross (Due South, Slings and Arrows) has been at the festival before, starring in Wilby Wonderful. This is Gross' second directorial effort, after 2002's Men With Brooms.
