TIFF 2019 Off-sale Screenings

Here is a posting for current off-sale films for TIFF 2019. Note that films that appear off-sale here may come back on-sale as tickets are released or if the festival releases additional inventory.

Please post additional off-sale (or films that come back on-sale) in the comments. Thanks!

Welcome back!

A friend with Gold status said that they couldn't buy three seats together for the Judy Premiere at POW. So while not sold out yet, indicates that one is high demand.

Someone on Awardswatch said Joker at rTH Premiere is gone for now.

Same person on Awardswatch says Hustlers is the second to go off sale today. The 9:30 show at RTH on the 7th.

Joker (RTH), Just Mercy (Elgin) and Radioactive (RTH) are now offsale.

A reminder to list which screenings are off-sale.

Silver Patron friend says Knives Out premium on Sept 6 at 6pm POW and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood on Sept 6 at 6:30 are now both Off Sale too.

so does tiff usually hold back tickets for future package redemption periods or are the off-sale ones gone for good?

@Unknown It's TIFF... nothing's 'gone for good' until the screening actually starts! I've had films listed as off-sale while redeeming my package, only to get tickets to them on single-ticket day. Keep checking!

A heads-up that there's another 'off-sale' thread happening over at https://www.reddit.com/r/TIFF/comments/ctg2io/unofficial_2019_tiff_offsale_list/

Knives Out on the 8th - 11 am is Off Sale.

As per the reddit forum also covering off sale, the following are no longer available:

- Just Mercy: Friday 6th, RTH, 6:00pm
- A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood: Saturday 7th, Elgin, 8:00pm
- The Goldfinch: Sunday 8th, RTH, 6:00pm
- The Goldfinch: Sunday 8th, Elgin, 8:00pm
- Jojo Rabbit: Sunday 8th, POW, 9:30pm
- Ford v. Ferrari: Monday 9th, RTH, 5:30pm
- Ford v. Ferrari: Monday 9th, RTH, 8:00pm

As expected, mostly the big ticket premium screenings. Would say the regular screening of Knives Out was the only one that is surprising to be gone so soon. Wouldn't be surprised if a few more go off-sale today as the contributor windows pass on.

The premium screening for The Laundromat - Monday, September 9th, 6pm @ POW - is off sale.

Does anyone have a good prediction for when color out of space will go offsale?

Re: Color Out of Space, my ticket number for the Ryerson premiere was just behind the numbers that I was issued for The Lighthouse and Parasite at the Ryerson, so if either of those go off-sale, you know that Color Out of Space is likely close behind.

I would guess that they were each 20-25% sold out as of this morning.

Those that've already redeemed, is the easiest to search by title or by date?

@souptrashbaby I just redeemed my package and Color Out of Space was still available. See ya there!

Although it's glitched on the website and can still be added (but not redeemed) to your cart, JOKER on September 13th, 9:45pm is off-sale.

It appears "Jojo Rabbit" on Monday the 9th at the Elgin at 10:00 a.m. is off sale. I just tried picking it and it told me I had an error. Tried several times to select it with no luck, so I'd say that one is off sale at the moment.

Both screenings of Parasite were off sale during my redemption window at 5pm (Aug 27).

The first screening of Parasite was available when I selected at 4pm, but then when I clicked Find My Tickets it kept freezing and then they were gone. :(

Couldnt get How to Build a Girl Sept 8 showing. Grabbed 2 tickets to Color Out of Film for Midnight on the 7th

Off-sale when I selected my tickets:

-The White, White Day, Wed. 9/11, Jackman Hall, 12:00 p.m.

I had major problems fulfilling my ticket package during the 4 p.m. round. It took me about 15 minutes to get everything selected. Clicked "find tickets" and it spun and spun and spun for almost three hours until I closed it. Meanwhile, I called the box office and was on hold for 90 minutes. The phone rep did enter all of my selections, although in that time I ended up losing both PARASITE screenings and the 9/7 THE LIGHTHOUSE. (It seems as though you've not secured them at this stage. I tried for THE WHITE, WHITE DAY, which I couldn't get online but was temporarily told I had. That didn't follow through when the rep tried to place the order.) Time to select, confirm, and reconfirm (as an issue did emerge) took another 80 minutes.

I've run into this kind of problem on single ticket day but not in picking package tickets. I mostly got what I wanted, but it ended up taking an

Both Screenings of the Lighthouse were not available for my selection window.

I'm so glad this blog is back for 2019.

Just wanted to comment on some of the earlier discussion regarding ticket availability for single ticket day.

I was quite surprised to find a number of my films off sale already during my package redemption today, so I decided to inquire about ticket allotments with festival staff.

They said that there have not been any tickets held back for single ticket day, and have confirmed that if it is off-sale now, it will be off-sale on single ticket day as well. I was pretty disappointed to learn this, as I've gotten lucky in previous years, securing tickets I missed out on during my package redemption period.

Figured I'd share this info so people can plan appropriately with a backup plan if you miss out on a few like I did.

Pain & Glory Saturday Sept 7 2:45pm SB1 is off sale as of 4:20 Aug 27

I'm a member and from 9:45pm-10:20pm or so on Tuesday August 27 I checked/selected each of the all films listed because it doesn't show offsale. It will show "This item is currently not available" when you hit select.

I do not have a premium pack, just a regular flex pack so it will only show regular screenings to choose from. I may have missed something but re-checked the offsale ones at 11pm or so to confirm it was not available.

My form has Greed playing at Ryerson but the Greed page and schedule does not state this as playing that day. I could select Jojo Rabbit and its available but that is the film playing at 12pm at Ryerson on Sept 15 so I assume its wrong and Jojo Rabbit is offsale.

Good luck on selection day.

Correction possbily.

Not sure if Jojo Rabbit on Sun Sept 15 is really NOT off-sale. I was assuming. Being that its a big theatre and its the 4th screening it was showing available. The film that wasn't available was actually Greed but that was at the same time and at the same venue. Maybe that was the reason it was showing item is not currently available. It is Sunday screenings afterall. So if you want Jojo Rabbit it was available last night around 11pm or Tues Aug 27. Sorry for the confusion

Can someone give an update on color out of space for midnight?

I assume all members have now received the email about individual ticket member pre-sale. The member access code is a new thing they are trying this year. Gotta say, I get nervous whenever TIFF tries new things with ticket selection process, but OK, sure, we'll see what that's like.

The part that alarmed me is the following:

"4. Make your selections. Enter your access code [ ], at the top of each event page to purchase up to four tickets per screening. You can purchase one screening per transaction, so we recommend checking out with your top film first."

I usually get around 5-7 individual tickets (one ticket for each screening) during the member pre-sale day. It's always a bit of a mess re. the wait-time, but usually when you're in, you can select all the tickets at once then you're done. Does this mean that, if I wanted to buy 5 individual tickets to different screenings, I have to buy one, check out, GET BACK TO THE QUEUE, buy the next one, check out, etc? Because that sound bloody awful. It's not uncommon to wait 30-45 minutes in queue every time you try to get back to the system. And since folks like me wanting tickets to multiple screenings would be getting back to the quagmire after each transaction, it will create even more traffic to the already overburdened site.

I sure hope I'm reading that wrong, because yikes, that sounds like a recipe for disaster.

EJ - you read that wrong, kind of. This year is not through TIFF's ticketmaster portal, but rather, Ticketmaster.ca straight up. Similar to buying concert or sports tickets off the platform rather than the TIFF portal, there won't be a queue.

Aha! My eyes just jumped to the details straight past that part -- I thought we'd be going through the same TIFF Account Manager portal. If we don't have to deal with the queue, that would be amazing. Hopefully Ticketmaster.ca can handle the traffic better than TIFF portal.

Thanks!

Ticketmaster.ca handled the demand for the recent Taylor Swift tour - it should be perfectly fine for the festival's members. I have also never run into any problems with the normal on-sale that goes through Ticketmaster.ca - should be a much more fluid process this year. Fingers crossed.
